Jan. 28th I received a picture text from Russ of a backhoe digging. It took a minute but the thought finally hit me that it has begun! Finally the dream is starting to feel real. Our house finally broke ground.
Wed Feb. 9th was the start of our big week. Russ started to frame and had a week to finish. Thanks to his brothers, dad, and cousin we accomplished the goal! It was a crazy week to say the least. My job was to make lunch and dinner and take it over to them. I loved doing that for my boys and Whitney loved being at the job site with Dad. Paul, he was content sleeping in the car.
I must say watching our house being framed was a bitter sweet thing for me.
The sweet: I am so excited to create this house into a home, to live in a place that was built with my sweet husbands talent and hard work, and a place with lots of room for my kids to run, play, and have fun! Especially having a place big enough to invite friends over without leaving them or ourselves on the floor.
The bitter: Was when I arrived on the job site smelling the saw dust which is the ultimate reminder of my Dad. It was very sad to not have him here to help frame. Although I cant help but think he was following my husband around helping in his own way- with an angels touch! I miss him everyday, but even more so during this project. It breaks my heart that he's not here to enjoy these little moments in our life, but I know he is up there smiling down on us-love you Dad, and you were right.....I did marry someone great.
