On January 2nd at 1am I started having labor pains. At 4:30 we went to the Alta View hospital were they admitted me. I was 100% effaced and dialed to a 3. I received an epidural which by the way was GREAT! It was a little weird not feeling my legs. I was contracting for a while and not dilating further so they gave me patosen(however its spelled) to get things moving along. But every time they would give it to me, Whit's heart rate would go down, so they couldn’t give too much. After about nine hours of playing that game and still dialated to a 3, we decided that we would go C- section. We went into the operating room and about 20 min. later out came our new little girl Whitney. During the surgery I could feel a lot of tugging, but that’s about it. The first word the doctor said was “look at all that hair”! She was a cutie! There was no complications during the surgery which was a relief. Russ was able to be in there and film it. What a cool thing to have someone come to you straight from heaven to your arms. I just couldn’t believe that we finally had our own baby!! It was so fun to finally see what she looked like after being in my tummy for so long. After the delivery we went to our room and she had her first bath. It was fun to watch my husband bath our newborn. I had to watch the movie again later because I was so drugged up it was a battle to keep my eyes open. Don’t you hate that feeling when you need to use toothpicks to hold up your eyelids? The hospital stay was not too bad. All the nurses were so nice and were so sweet with Whit. They especially loved her hair-she would always come back from the nursery with a new hair bow and style. The food on the other hand- hospital food…..gotta love it. I was glad to get home and eat my husbands cooking! That boy can cook—lucky me!!
